Protecting our Planet

We use our resources responsibly and strive to reduce our environmental impact

Extreme weather events across the world are further evidence of the negative impacts of climate change. These negative impacts affect all sections of society but often have a disproportionate affect on low income countries and disadvantaged communities. Each business has a role to play in mitigating the risks to people and the planet. At Norbrook, we are on a journey to reduce the environmental impact in our operations and throughout the value chain with a particular emphasis on reducing carbon, minimising waste and protecting water systems.

Our Carbon Footprint

Since 2016, our commitment to sustainability has driven a 63% reduction in our carbon emissions. This reduction has been achieved through a range of measures including the increased use of renewable energy across our operations and value chain and the implementation of innovative heat recovery processes. Our teams are actively working with our suppliers and other stakeholders in our efforts to reduce our emissions further.

Waste and Circular Economy

In the creation of our veterinary products we generate residual materials that require management and disposal. Through our waste management partners, we sort and separate dry waste for recovery. We have also introduced processes to transform non-recyclable materials into solid recovered fuel (SRF) for onward use. Currently, only 2% of our waste ends up in landfill.

Water Stewardship

We understand the importance of responsible water management and are committed to safeguarding water sources. We have installed on-site effluent plants at our manufacturing sites in Northern Ireland. These plants treat 100% of our effluent waste, reducing our environmental impact on the surrounding ecosystem and contributing to cleaner water.
